Ecohotel El Agua offers Holistic Health and Healing

The hotel welcomes guests 14 and over

A stay at Ecohotel El Agua will help you transform your mind and rejuvenate your body. The hotel rests in Arico el Nuevo, a historic village in southern Tenerife. Around it lie olive groves, lavender, rosemary, and mountain silence. Fountains murmur across the grounds. Water is the constant here, and it sets the pace.

This is a five-star retreat built for holistic health and wellbeing. Founder Anthony Picq, a naturopath and phytotherapist, shaped its philosophy. Sustainability guides every choice, from the architecture to the plate. The result feels considered, calm, and quietly luxurious.

Each villa keeps a private heated pool, treated with salt rather than chlorine. Covers hold the warmth through the night. Organic care products, biodegradable coffee capsules, and hypoallergenic linens are standard. A welcome basket brings organic fruit, herbal teas, and a small bottle of cava.

Three villas make up the property. Each began as a stone house, roughly two centuries old, and each was restored with patience. Vernacular building meets organic design. Handcrafted objects from artisans around the world fill the rooms. Every detail earns its place.

Villa Olivo started life as an old winery and a shelter for farmhands. Today it welcomes two guests among the olive trees. A heated saltwater pool anchors the terrace. Nearby, the spa borrows the same wabi-sabi calm.

Villa Mimosa spans 120 square meters, with 400 square meters of gardens. Two bedrooms sleep up to four. A heated infinity pool overlooks the ravine and the sunset. Inside, Mid-Century lines meet terracotta, marble, and rugs from Morocco's Atlas Mountains. King-size beds invite long, unhurried mornings.

Villa Naoko, the newest addition, blends Japanese craft with the hotel's bold architecture. An 18-square-meter cottage opens onto 450 square meters of gardens. Walls wear linen and charred wood, in the Shou Sugi Ban tradition. A wooden bridge crosses the salt-treated infinity pool. From the bed, the water draws your eye toward the Atlantic. Fountains and deep privacy complete the zen mood.

The spa overlooks the ravine as you rest in the saltwater jacuzzi. A cold plunge pool wakes the circulation. Behind a carved wooden door wait a sauna and a Moroccan-style hammam.

Treatments follow Hippocratic principles and blend Eastern and Western traditions. Choose shiatsu, reflexology, hot stone, or shirodhara. Watsu suspends you, weightless, in warm water. Ice baths and breathwork sharpen the mind after the heat. Each treatment aims to realign energy and restore balance.

The programs go deeper still: therapeutic fasting and regenerative autophagy run with medical support. Cryotherapy applies cold for targeted, measured effect. Yoga, Pilates, meditation, and personal training shape the rhythm of the days. Epigenetic testing is available for guests curious about their own biology.

Food carries the same conviction: nourishment comes first. The kitchen works with organic, local, seasonal produce. Expect plant-based cuisine, across vegan, raw vegan, and vegetarian menus. Bioavailability matters here as much as flavor. Meals are prepared to preserve the nutritional value of each ingredient.

What to do beyond Ecohotel el Agua's grounds: Cycle the quiet lanes below the village. Walk the groves as the light softens. On select evenings, classical and jazz concerts fill the grounds. Silence returns soon after.

Our stay at Eco Hotel El Agua was truly exceptional from beginning to end. We had the pleasure of staying in Villa Mimosa, which offered complete privacy, stunning surroundings, and a peaceful atmosphere. Everything was spotless, beautifully designed, and finished to a very high standard. The experience actually started long before we arrived. Shortly after we made our reservation, Anthony contacted us personally to ask about our flight details, dietary requirements, food allergies, and whether we had any special requests. This level of care and attention is something we have rarely experienced. When we arrived, Anthony welcomed us warmly, showed us around the property, and escorted us to our villa. Throughout our stay, he was always available, happy to help with anything we needed, and gave us fantastic recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. El Agua is much more than a hotel. It is a truly special place where you immediately feel calm and connected. The peaceful atmosphere, the focus on nature and sustainability, and the incredible attention to detail make it a place that stays with you long after you leave. The food was another highlight. Both breakfast and dinner were outstanding—fresh, organic, locally sourced, healthy, and absolutely delicious. The personalized service made every meal feel special. We also highly recommend the private dinner with Chef Kalo. The setting inside the cave is breathtaking, and the food was outstanding. But what made the evening unforgettable was the experience itself. Kalo took us on a journey that was not only culinary but also inspiring, grounding, and deeply meaningful. It was so much more than just dinner. If you are looking for privacy, exceptional service, incredible food, immaculate cleanliness, and a place to truly disconnect and recharge, Eco Hotel El Agua is the perfect destination. For us, it was far more than a hotel—it was an unforgettable experience that touched both our hearts and our souls. We cannot wait to come back. [...]

Anthony had a beautiful vision and he is bringing it to life in this sublime holistic wellness hotel. The attention to detail and care for every element of your experience is unsurpassed. This isn’t your usual wellness retreat - it’s bespoke, boutique, soulful and with a touch of magic. My friend and I felt so well cared for from the moment we contacted Anthony. We had treatments every day from Carolina who is a true healer. We ate Kalo’s vegetarian tasting menu every night and he curated it just for us (including extra specialities for my pregnant friend). And Isobel’s breakfasts were divine. We didn’t rent a car - instead we stayed at the hotel and did a couple of beautiful hikes through the canyon right from our doorstep. I will definitely come back again to this very special place. [...]
