ACRO Suites: A Romantic Cretan Enclave Showcasing Nature at its Most Theatrical
Named for the ancient Greek word akros/akron, meaning “on edge,” ACRO Suites rests against a striking cliff overlooking the Cretan Sea. The rooms — which range from oceanfront villas to cave suites integrated into the natural landscape — feature floor-to-ceiling windows that open up to sun-drenched lounges with private infinity pools and outdoor showers. Balance and wellness are central to this adults-only escape. The dramatic natural surroundings, combined with a devotion to classic Greek island architecture, create a truly cinematic experience.
The property was built with a bioclimatic approach and includes solar panels, a reverse osmosis water system, water-saving faucets, biological water management, and heat pumps. Cleaning products are sourced from certified suppliers of environmentally friendly solutions.
ACRO Suites offers four distinct dining venues. At Cremnos, you'll enjoy dishes made with handpicked organic ingredients from small farms around the island. Try traditional favorites such as Greek salad — featuring uniquely fresh cucumbers found only in Greece — along with tzatziki and grilled octopus. Eleonas Restaurant, open for dinner on Wednesdays only, focuses on grilled delicacies served in a serene olive garden. UMI Restaurant offers a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines, open in the evenings during the summer season and requiring an elegant dress code. A visit to the Circle Pool Bar & Lounge is a must — whether during the day or after sunset — for cocktails inspired by Mediterranean botanical herbs or freshly squeezed juices.
The property is surrounded by white pebble beaches, including Mononaftis (“One Sailor”), which is accessible by elevator or foot. The hotel’s Bath House is designed around the concept of rejuvenation, featuring a traditional Byzantine hammam, a cold pool, and rain showers. Guests will also find a gym and a dedicated yoga space with a plunge pool overlooking the sea. Free daily yoga and fitness classes are offered.
Mindful of the local community, the resort donates to vulnerable social groups and collaborates with the parish to provide goods to families in need. Staff are encouraged to take time off to participate in local projects and donate blood. Reforestation efforts on the property are carried out with native species, including olive trees.
Go trekking to explore the natural beauty and history of Crete, pass through traditional villages, and visit historic landmarks. Once you’ve had your fill of adventure, relax on the beaches and enjoy the crystal-clear blue waters.
