Conscious Passivhaus Design, Forest Panorama and Coastal Chic in San Sebastián
In the Basque Country, just 20 minutes from the Atlantic coast, the Arima Hotel & Spa is the perfect place to explore the culinary capital of Europe, San Sebastian, while enjoying a tranquil environment surrounded by a forest. Opened in 2017, the hotel has since been awarded the Passivhaus certificate with CO2 emissions savings compared to a standard building that are equivalent to what 15,000 trees would absorb annually.
When planning their entry into hospitality, the host family envisioned their ideal hotel. Their dreams and research culminated in the opening of this 69-room hotel. Noble and durable materials such as stone, iron, and wood are combined with soft textures and fabrics in neutral tones, both in the rooms and in the common areas. Most rooms look out into green forests.
