Phãea Cretan Malia

A Bohemian Resort on Crete’s Northern Coast Offering Green Luxury for the Entire Family

Phãea Cretan Malia's Summer Season from April to November

Located directly on the beach along the northern coast of Crete, Phãea Cretan Malia is a sustainably developed resort designed to harmonize with the natural environment. Modernist, minimal design defines the property’s aesthetic. Think: Bright, elegantly bohemian rooms and bungalows opening up to botanical gardens, interiors fit with contemporary pieces by local artists alongside family heirlooms, and a color palette reflecting the Mediterranean. Sustainability is integral to the resort—solar power generates 80% of its electricity, water is recycled, and the grounds are thoughtfully landscaped to support bee populations.

Phãea Cretan Malia’s culinary philosophy centers on seasonal and local ingredients. Three distinct restaurants, including the organic Cretan Mouries, offer immersive dining experiences. Ingredients are sourced directly from the resort’s herb and vegetable gardens, with olive oil, goat and sheep milk dairy, and local wines forming the cornerstone of the menus. Guests can deepen their connection to Cretan traditions by participating in cooking classes that highlight ancient preparation methods and sustainable farming practices.

Activities cater to every interest. Start your day with yoga or Pilates in the lush gardens, take a dip in one of the three pools, or lounge on the pristine Blue Flag beach with a natural cocktail in hand. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy tennis and basketball courts, while evenings are best spent at the open-air cinema under the stars.

The spa provides a sanctuary for relaxation, offering treatments inspired by local ingredients, such as an organic olive oil and sea salt scrub. For families, the Tiny (0-3) and Little (3-12) Explorer’s Clubs delight younger guests with their vegetable garden, performance area, and test kitchen, encouraging creativity and hands-on learning.

Incredible food, we tried every restaurant and particularly enjoyed the Cretan one. The staff were so lovely and friendly. One thing for future travellers to be aware of – it's a VERY family-friendly hotel. I'd say it is a family hotel first and foremost, honestly. We were one of the only parties there without children. But, the children were all pretty well behaved and it certainly didn't spoil our stay. The music in the bar in the evenings was so lovely, especially the beautiful setting over the pool with the light. And we had a great time on the beach too. My top tip would be that the best sun loungers by the main pool are by far the orange beds, they have shade you can move around and aren't on the grass which can become muddy. It would have been nice to have more of those. Only downside for us was that the quieter River pool, with signs asking children not to play or be loud and so was more adult-only, only had poolside beds dedicated for particular bungalows/rooms. Some days they weren't used all day, but they were designated as for those rooms still, so we couldn't use them. This was a bit frustrating when the main pool was full of kids having fun, and the river pool was beautifully quiet and peaceful. We could still use that pool, but we couldn't relax by it. I'd love it if the hotel would rethink that policy. That really was the only downside, otherwise we had such a wonderful stay and would definitely visit again. [...]

We are a young couple but still wanted to take our chance at this hotel being aware that it is not an adults only resort. After our stay, I would not recommend this to couples only during the summer month. I guess off season could work. During the week we were there, we basically were unable to use the pool at the hotel because it was entirely full of flowties (and I mean every inch of the pool was covered), spray pistols, that would be used to spray everything and everywhere and that resulting into kids constantly crying. We have stayed at family hotels before and never had a problem like this. I think especially about the situation with all the floating tools, the hotel could do better. The food was outstanding, the resort was beautiful and the service was great as well! I would definitely recommend all inclusive here since the property is a little out of Malia and the restaurants at the place are really pricy! The rooms where not a 5 star standard in my option, we also seemed to have an electricity outage twice on our last day. As a family, we definitely would come back, as a young couple we would rather not. [...]

I’ve recently stayed at the Cretan Malia Park 5* hotel. It’s an amazing place with five different restaurants, two pools and an own access to the beautiful sand beach. The food was delicious. It’s an amazing place with five different restaurants, two pools and an own access to the beautiful sand beach. The food was delicious. For me there was almost everything included, because I chose the all inclusive package. Most of the food was Cretan style and there was also an Italian restaurant. The vegetarian and vegan options are very good! The staff was very friendly and the place was really beautiful and quiet. I especially liked the nice (live) evening music at the pool. I just need to say that the older part of the hotel needs a renovation, but it’s really just a small criticism and despite of that everything is very clean. Generally the place is in a very good in shape and the atmosphere is almost like in paradise 🏝️🥰🌅 I’d like to thank everyone, especially the staff, for making such a great experience possible! [...]
