A Self-Sustaining Subtropical Oasis in Amsterdam

200 Rooms & Suites | 1 Restaurant | 1 Bar | Pool | Spa | Meeting Rooms

Entering Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam on Java-eiland feels like stepping into a lush, vertical jungle. The five-story glass and bamboo structure is alive with subtropical plants, towering palms, and botanical gardens inspired by the island of Java. This striking design reflects the hotel’s core concept: a connection between Amsterdam and Indonesia, infused with sustainability in every detail. Rainwater is collected on-site, solar panels provide clean energy, and an underground thermal energy storage system regulates temperature. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interiors with natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting, while the atrium serves as a green sanctuary in the heart of the city.

Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam's 200 rooms and suites are crafted from bamboo and blond wood, exuding warmth and simplicity. Floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies invite guests to enjoy expansive views of the IJ River or the city skyline. Superior rooms feature king-size beds and modern rain showers, while suites add free-standing bathtubs and panoramic vistas, creating spaces that feel both indulgent and serene.

Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam’s culinary offerings celebrate its Indonesian heritage. Café Jakarta, located in the light-filled atrium, serves vibrant fusion cuisine that brings together Indonesian flavors and Dutch ingredients, perfect for a casual lunch or an elegant dinner. For sunset drinks, head to Skybar Malabar, where expertly crafted cocktails are served alongside sweeping views of Amsterdam’s skyline.

For wellness enthusiasts, the WellCome Wellness center offers an indoor pool surrounded by lush greenery, a Finnish sauna, and a range of natural spa treatments designed to relax and rejuvenate. Start the day with a swim or yoga session, and wind down with a signature Javanese massage, which incorporates traditional techniques to restore balance.

Whether you're here to explore Amsterdam or simply recharge, Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam’s sustainable design, luxurious amenities, and unique tropical atmosphere make it a retreat unlike any other in the city. From locally sourced breakfast pastries at Westers Bakery to bike rentals for eco-friendly exploration, every detail is designed to create a meaningful connection between guests, the city, and the environment.s French and Indonesian influences and Skybar Malabar is ideal for a cocktail with a view to match.

I picked this hotel as I wanted to show my partner Amsterdam, but also be secluded just on the outskirts of DeWallen (The Madness!) This place is Indonesian themed and wow it definitely exceeded my expectations when it came to the decor, room, facilities, and the food! This place is Indonesian themed and wow it definitely exceeded my expectations when it came to the decor, room, facilities, and the food! We arrived before check-in (3pm) and the staff said our room was ready which was great news. We did have to put down €100 deposit, however this would be refunded if not used during our stay. Very luxurious eco-friendly rooms with wooden panelling all throughout, rain shower, with plenty of storage and a very comfortable King Bed! We opted for the Superior King room with a balcony, including breakfast, which was beautiful and a bargain! Your on Java Island and your right by the IJ river with a spectacular view with lots if barges/boats passing by and the skyline lit up at night (just ignore the little building infront if your facing out the front of the hotel!) The hotels WiFi worked, however you could only play one video on YouTube before it disconnected, so if you were watching the flat screen, you would have to watch Dutch TV (some English channels available), WiFi worked perfectly on your devices though. The breakfast was top notch with high-quality ingredients and it had everything you needed including continental and many drinks options, plus you can sit outside and sit by the river/ bridge which was beautiful! Especially at night when the bridge is illuminated. The dinner menu was spectacular (Indonesian fusion) and cocktails to match which were lovely! We didn't get the chance to go to the Skybar on the top floor, but they also serve snacks incase you missed dinner! The room service was quick and food was tasty! They also had a spa with various facials and massage options but unfortunately we didn't have time to use this, but looked popular with other guests! This hotel made me feel like I was somewhere very exotic, and not just the quirkiness that the city of Amsterdam had to offer. You will not regret staying here, but bare in mind you will have to get a taxi/tram to go into the popular areas within Amsterdam. Make sure you have WhatsApp as this is used heavily here! And stay safe when in De Wallen! I strongly advise booking trips via TripAdvisor where they offer hotel pick up & drop off, and you can see the windmills, clog making, cheese making, diamonds, and eat fresh fish by the harbour, plus the Red Light District Tour & Bulldog Boat Trip was amazing! (Make sure you organise your taxis prior to boat trip and Red Light Tour as you will have to make your way to the Meeting Points and get back to hotel, you should get your taxi drivers business card, dont hang around De Wallen after 1am). And most importantly, keep belongings safe in a small bumbag & STAY SAFE! Hotel Jakarta is amazing, we will be back again! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [...]

Hotel is lovely , rooms are spacious and overall great design. Breakfast buffet is good. It is not so far by bus or tram to Amsterdam Centraal station (which is why I booked it to take the train next day). It is not so far by bus or tram to Amsterdam Centraal station (which is why I booked it to take the train next day). If it's your first time in the city you might find it a bit far from everything -there isn't a supermarket nearby for example. But if you rent a bike beforehand from the centre it will be very convenient for you so you can get to places quickly within the city centre. The food at the restaurant is average for dinner service. I didn't like the sate kambing and the mie goreng was far too sweet (I know this type of food very well) so you're better off eating at a proper Indonesian restaurant elsewhere if you want to experience Indonesian food! Guest services to this hotel is exceptional. We were able to get an early check-in having been up for over 24 hours. His welcome was heartfelt and his love of Canadians. Special thanks to Tiemen for remembering our names (400 guests per day at this hotel), our travel plans and ensuring transportation. Lastly, he left Guest services to this hotel is exceptional.
