Santorini's First Vegan Hotel Offering a Familial Vibe and Local Experience

MOD Santorini Vegan Hotel is open year-round

MOD Santorini is a fully vegan hotel located in the centre of the popular Greek island Santorini. With only four suites, this boutique hotel has a very personal vibe. It offers a warm, local experience with the owners cooking traditional vegan dishes and guiding their guests around the island. MOD Santorini is a freshly renovated family hotel designed to reflect the owner's eco-friendly and vegan lifestyle. Two of the suites offer sea views with private hot tubs on the balcony and the other two are facing the village of Firostefani.

The hotel has a communal space on their rooftop terrace where many events are held such as yoga, cooking demonstrations, a space to eat and drink or simple relax and watch the sunrise over the east side of the island.

Staying at Mod is a true vegan vacation: each room has a fully stocked vegan mini bar including local vegan wines. Daily breakfast includes local organic ingredients from the island and a full café menu offers meals throughout the day. Santorini's volcanic soil produces delicious vegetables and wines. The hotel offers vegan food and wine experiences, private vegan picnics and a full vegan guide to get around the island.

We recommend booking one of the sea view suites with private hot tub and terrace. Wake up early to watch the sunrise from your own private hot tub or start your day with rooftop yoga overlooking the island. MOD Santorini is open all year round and offer long term stays over the winter with full packages.

We are Ever since we heard that there was a fully vegan hotel in one of the most beautiful places on Earth it became our dream to go there. Last year we made it a reality, and what an experience it was! So enchanting that we went back this year and are booked for next. We are hooked. What an incredible place… We really didn’t want to leave, and I’m talking on a daily basis, not just when the holiday was drawing to a close. But what a beautiful dilemma to have, being torn between going out to explore the island and wanting to relax all day in the hot-tub and - now in 2025 - take in the incredible vista from the beautifully designed rooftop terrace. Indeed, the whole hotel is such a captivating building; immaculate and minimal but with an organic feel that perfectly reflects the warmth and pure spirit of its owners, Christina and Argyris. Always keen to get us lazy sloths out and about, after serving us each morning with what can only be described as a vegan banquet, Christina would ask “What are you guys up to today?” and - as was often the case due to our lack of anything approaching a basic itinerary - we would soon have a whole variety of fantastic options to choose from. Argyris would then provide even more options! They both want you to experience the island to the fullest and can tell you where all the hidden gems and best places to go are, and will take you straight to them. Their love for Santorini is infectious and all-encompassing. We are admittedly not the most adventurous travellers, but these two eventually persuaded us to step out of our hot-tub comfort zone and explore. We even did The Hike. Opinions between myself and Michelle vary slightly but we can both agree that even the most robust sandals are not suitable for the rocky part about halfway through when you encounter Mount Doom’s smaller but no less intimidating cousin. We did not do The Hike this year. But we saw so much more of the island, hopping on the excellent bus service everyday (cheap, regular and fully air-conditioned) to explore and eat. Santorini has a decent amount of dining options for vegans, including MOD, of course. Speaking of food, as hinted at above, you will not go hungry! We started every day with a delicious, nutritious three-course breakfast that covered all the bases. From the traditional Greek Koulouri bagel, full of cream cheese and tofu bacon (an absolute favourite) to the moreish Spanakopita spinach pie and the chickpea omelette, we were beyond satisfied. All dishes were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. My personal favourite is the tomato fritters - tomatokeftides. So out-of-this-world that I keep trying to recreate them at home and even had dreams about them. This is the power of MOD and we will be back again and again and again! [...]

I’ve been trying to write this review for two years (sorry Christina!! 😁) purely because I can’t write one glowing enough! 💖 Whether it’s your first visit or a return, it’s like coming home (but much better) ❤ Most importantly for us, everything from the food to the bathroom supplies are vegan by default, so I’ve been trying to write this review for two years (sorry Christina!! 😁) purely because I can’t write one glowing enough! 💖 Whether it’s your first visit or a return, it’s like coming home (but much better) ❤ Most importantly for us, everything from the food to the bathroom supplies are vegan by default, so you don’t have to worry about it at all. The location is perfect. A short stroll and some steps, and you’re at the famous Caldera. But it is simultaneously tucked away enough, to be out the way of the tourists, and have stunning views of the opposite side of the island. Honestly you can stay in the hot tubs/sunbeds for hours enjoying the views and tranquillity. The roof terrace is absolutely stunning, beautifully designed and so elegant. The rooms are spotlessly clean, secure and well maintained, better than some 5* hotels I’ve stayed in! You could easily not leave the hotel, but when you do, definitely ask the owners Christina & Argiris to recommend places on the island to visit and where to find the best vegan food on your travels – and where to avoid! They’re happy to help and want you make the most of every bit of your trip. DO NOT MISS a personal tour with Argiris! He’s lived on the island all his life knows all the best spots, follow him wherever he suggests, it will be worth it! We’ve done two, and can’t wait to do a third next year 😊 The. Food. Five stars for this alone! You will not go hungry at MOD. Breakfast is three courses (plus buffet!) and pretty much two meals in one, you won’t need lunch so you save money on eating out, and you can pre-book for evening meals at the hotel too. And don’t miss the wines and desserts! If you’re going out or (depressingly) back to the airport, they will even make you a packed up meal to take with you 😊 Don’t miss Christina’s gorgeous bespoke cakes either, if you have a special occasion or just fancy an extra treat (you’re on holiday, why not?!) We cannot wait to go back next year! Made Of Dreams, and then some ❤ [...]

Absolutely LOVED our stay at Mod. The rooms are gorgeous, the food is to die for and the host is possibly the nicest person in the hotel business. Super cute, accessible to everywhere and it’s vegan to top it all off. Definitely recommend you visit anytime you are in Santorini Greece 🇬🇷
