Conscious Luxury Meets Wild Kenya at Sasaab Safari Lodge
Situated between Westgate Conservancy and Samburu National Reserve in Kenya, Sasaab is a stunning luxury-tented safari camp. The lodge, perched on the edge of a river valley, provides breathtaking views of the Laikipia Plateau and Mount Kenya.
A safari experience here is unique as the reserve is home to species endemic to this area, the ‘Samburu Special Five’: the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich. The area is also renowned for its majestic herds of elephants, lions, leopard and cheetah.
Each of the nine spacious canvas-sided rooms boasts a private veranda with a plunge pool and sun loungers, and views above the river and the Laikipia Plateau. Its elevated position naturally facilitates watching the herds of elephant and other wildlife that come to bathe in the river. The Riverside Family Suite and Poolside Family Suite are ideal for families or groups, offering interconnected rooms with spacious living areas.
The architecture of the lodge, a harmonious blend of Swahili and Moroccan styles, is crafted to respect the African heat, allowing for a cooling and airy atmosphere. Relaxation is key at Sasaab, with SpaSaab providing a serene sanctuary for guests. The infinity pool, gym and spa area offer breathtaking views, enhancing the tranquil experience.
Sasaab offers a fabulous range of exciting activities for everyone, from exploring the wilderness on foot, camel or quadbike, to fly-camping under the stars and epic helicopter experiences in Kenya’s remote north. Enjoy morning, evening, and night-time game drives. Sasaab’s all-inclusive approach covers meals, drinks, and a range of activities, including game drives, bush breakfasts, sundowners, and nature walks.
Sasaab also emphasizes its commitment to conservation and community, with a significant portion of its team employed from the local Samburu community and involvement in various initiatives like The Grevy’s Zebra Trust and a School Lunch Programme.
Sasaab Safari Lodge, part of The Safari Collection, is not just an escape to the wild; it's a journey into a vibrant culture, a rendezvous with nature, and a luxurious retreat in one of Kenya's most spectacular locations.

FAMILIES
Children are welcome and under-threes stay free. Extra beds are available on request. We recommend parents book the family suite (rooms 8 & 9), as it has a shared central area and pool. The family suite can also be taken as an exclusive-use villa. The Samburu guides will teach children about their traditions and show them how to make bush tools. Special meals can be arranged with advanced notice. The lodge has drop-off steps and pools in every room. Young children must be accompanied at all times.
WEDDINGS
Sasaab is well-equipped to host weddings. We recommend a civil wedding in the home country, before the ceremony.
