Solo Palacio

Wabi Sabi Design, Peace, Nature, and Culinary Delights Amidst the Asturian Mountains at Solo Palacio

11 Apartments | Restaurant | Bar | Spa |

Solo Palacio is open year-round, except for a month-long closure from 8 January to 8 February.

Hidden in the Las Ubiñas Natural Park in Northern Spain, Solo Palacio is a 15th-century manor house, meticulously restored under ecological standards. It offers a unique blend of luxurious simplicity and historical charm. The award-winning interior design reflects the owner’s Wabi-Sabi philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection.

Solo Palacio offers 11 exquisitely designed apartments, ranging from cozy spaces perfect for couples to expansive lofts and two-bedroom apartments, ideal for families or small groups. Each space features natural materials, antique furniture, luxurious linens, fireplaces, and freestanding bathtubs. The breakfasts, buffet-style but without excess to minimize any possible food waste, include eggs cooked to order.

Deeply committed to giving back to nature and local communities, Solo Palacio works closely with a project dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of donkeys—animals that have historically suffered abuse in the region and now find refuge in this sanctuary, which is open to visitors.

Dinners at the restaurant are curated by Solo x Monte, a Michelin-star restaurant from the region that emphasizes local ingredients. And the cocktails are crafted by El Patio de Butacas, a local business that has also been awarded the Top Cocktail Bars Star. Only 19 cocktail bars in Spain and Portugal have achieved this prestigious distinction. Our favorite drink? Gin & beet and Vermouth & violet. Also, ask about the alcohol-free cocktails, Asturian craft beers, and, of course, cider—an essential in this region.

After a day full of activities in the heart of nature, relax at The Wellness Space with a panoramic sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi. And if the weather allows, take a dip in the infinity pool overlooking the majestic mountain landscape or unwind on the wooden deck next to the bar.

Solo Palacio offers a variety of experiences: white-water rafting, horse riding, cycling along the famous Senda del Oso, or fascinating cave explorations, just to start. "Cueva Huerta" is the second-largest cave in Europe—ask the staff how to visit it with a professional archaeologist.

Whether you are looking for peace or adventure, you will find your paradise here.

We had the most incredible visit. The location is so peaceful. The atmosphere so calm and the staff are wonderful. Our room had the most outstanding view and the infinity pool is just perfect to cool off in. We will be back! Thank you so much

This is as special a place as you could wish for. The Wabi Sabi ethos has been executed so well. The attention to detail is lovely, unobtrusive caring hospitality its setting is quite wonderful. After 3 nights we feel refreshed and hope to return.

The setting alone is unforgettable. The views are absolute showstoppers, with sweeping mountain panoramas that somehow feel even more dramatic from the stunning infinity pool. The views are absolute showstoppers, with sweeping mountain panoramas that somehow feel even more dramatic from the stunning infinity pool. What makes the property truly special, though, is the way its history has been preserved. The hotel occupies a historic palace that has been restored with extraordinary care and attention to detail. There is a deep respect for the estate's remarkable history, including the legacy of the strong women who owned and stewarded it during a time when female property ownership was rare. That story is woven into the experience in a meaningful and authentic way. The location is ideal: peaceful and secluded, yet only minutes from a charming town with shops and restaurants. That said, you may not want to leave. The service is simply exceptional. Every interaction felt warm, intuitive, and genuinely tailored to us. The staff somehow managed to be attentive without ever being intrusive, anticipating needs before we even voiced them. It's the kind of hospitality that is increasingly rare and elevates an already extraordinary property into something truly memorable. [...]
