Tauber's Bio Vitalhotel: An Organic Retreat Hotel in the Heart of the South Tyrolean Alps
Open until November 8th, 2026. Winter season from December 25th until April 6th, 2027.
Located in the picturesque village St. Sigmund in Kiens, Tauber's Bio Vitalhotel is surrounded by the Dolomite mountains and the magical scenery of South Tyrol. Majestic Alpine landscapes and idyllic valleys are waiting to be discovered. The Vitalhotel's 38 rooms and suites have been designed with local, natural materials and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Each room is both inviting and comfortable, combining modern design with traditional alpine elements.
Tauber's Bio Vitalhotel offers the perfect combination of luxury and sustainability: as the first certified organic hotel in South Tyrol, it has long been committed to holistic eco-friendly practices. Geothermal energy and solar panels are used to meet energy needs in a sustainable way. The hotel's own organic farming ensures fresh, high-quality products and helps reduce the carbon footprint. In the in-house restaurant, you'll enjoy 100% certified organic specialties, enriched by wild herbs from the hotel's own collection and fresh ingredients from its own garden and nearby organic farms. Even the wine comes from organic farming.
In July 2025, Tauber's Bio Vitalhotel reopened with a renewed architectural identity. A completely rebuilt main house now hosts new rooms and suites, an open-plan lobby with bar, and interiors defined by pared-back, nature-inspired materials. Constructed entirely in solid wood and certified as a Klimahaus, the building and its interiors are mainly made of natural materials, reflecting a deep design philosophy that is conscious, firmly rooted in the region, and in complete harmony with the natural world around it.
The hotel's commitment to the environment goes beyond its architecture. With just 5.32kg of CO2 per guest per night — far below the industry average — Tauber's leads by example. Electricity is drawn entirely from renewable sources, largely generated by photovoltaics, and the entire property is heated by a woodchip stove. Pool water is filtered with sand and no chlorine is used, while water-saving devices are installed throughout the building and rainwater is collected and used for irrigation. Cleaning products are 100% environmentally friendly, and the vegetable and herb garden are Bioland certified.
In the hotel's wellness area, you can soak and refresh in the year-round heated pool, the Kneipp alternating bath and, in summer, the bathing pond. Saunas, a steam bath and treatments with alpine herbs such as alpine fango and mountain pine packs offer optimal regeneration. Both the bathroom amenities and spa products are certified organic, and traditional local treatments using products from the region complete a truly holistic wellness experience.
The hotel is located in the Pustertal Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in South Tyrol, and offers a variety of activities in the region. From hiking to biking to skiing in the Kronplatz region, the number one ski area in South Tyrol, you have a wide range of possibilities to discover nature. Getting there is easy too: a free pick-up service is available at the train station, and guests benefit from a free Holiday Pass allowing them to use public transportation throughout South Tyrol.
Delight your palate in the in-house restaurant with a gastronomic selection of 100% certified organic specialties, invigorated by wild herbs from our private collection and fresh ingredients sourced from our own garden and neighboring organic farms. The menu offers diverse options for vegans and vegetarians, with products that are either homegrown or sourced from the region.
