An Ode to Slow-Living on the Secluded Island of Antiparos
The hotel closes annually for the winter season from 16 October to 30 April
Tucked away on the serene island of Antiparos, The Rooster offers a rare sense of seclusion in the Cyclades. Though remote, the journey is part of the charm—guests can reach the island by taking a scenic ferry from Athens, arriving first in Paros and continuing on, or opt for a private flight or sailing experience. Upon arrival, The Rooster feels like a sanctuary at the edge of the world, where the pace naturally slows and the soul can settle.
The Rooster’s architecture blends effortlessly with its surroundings, inspired by traditional Cycladic aesthetics but executed with a contemporary sensibility. Clean lines, natural textures, and soft, earthy tones create a space that feels both timeless and grounding. Every design choice reflects a commitment to sustainability, using local materials and environmentally conscious building practices that preserve the natural landscape and promote harmony with the land.
Comprising 17 thoughtfully designed guest houses and one secluded three-bedroom Farmhouse, accommodations at The Rooster are sanctuaries of comfort and privacy. Each suite is infused with natural light and surrounded by gardens, terraces, or cedar trees, with some featuring private pools. The interiors echo the landscape, with calming colors, handcrafted furnishings, and minimalist elegance that fosters rest and reconnection.
Food at The Rooster is a soulful expression of the island’s bounty. Guests can pick vegetables and herbs directly from the organic garden for a private open-air meal, or dine at The Secret Garden, the hotel’s signature restaurant. Menus emphasize seasonal, local ingredients—such as daily catches from Antiparos’ fishermen—and dishes celebrate simple, honest flavors rooted in Greek culinary tradition.
A dedicated space for yoga, sound baths, and meditation invites guests to reset and reconnect. The on-site House of Healing offers personalized treatments and therapies that draw from both modern wellness practices and ancient holistic traditions. The atmosphere is nurturing and deeply restorative, encouraging guests to fully embrace a slower rhythm of life.
From the use of renewable energy systems and water conservation to the cultivation of organic produce and support for local artisans, the hotel’s operations are carefully aligned with its ecological responsibilities. Even the design of the property honors the land, integrating buildings seamlessly into the natural terrain without disrupting the island’s fragile beauty.
While The Rooster invites stillness, it also encourages exploration. Guests can learn traditional farming techniques, join guided hikes through Antiparos’ rugged landscapes, or venture to hidden coves and beaches by boat. Cultural experiences, such as local craft workshops or visits to ancient caves, allow for a deeper connection to the island’s heritage. Every activity is curated to enrich the spirit without overwhelming the senses.
