Sustainability
Criteria

Kalesma supports the Mykonian basketball team and invites them to weekly free lunch. Dairy and meat is bought from farmers on the island.

The menu offers vegan dishes. All bread, vegetables, granola, dairy and eggs are organic. Chef Kostas Tsigkas sources food locally for his creative menus. The hotel offers Greek breakfast.

The property was built with stones found on the rocky land it inhabits as well as local clay. The ceilings are built the traditional way with reed, bamboo and wooden beams.

Recycled paper is used throughout the property. Bathroom products are offered in biodegradable dispensers rather than single bottles. All waste is separated and recycled.

The water for the pool is filtered with ozone and a recirculation pump. Water saving appliances are installed throughout. The water from the pools is treated with ozone and then used for irrigation.
