Alpenloge

A Place for the Good Life, Design, and Delights in Bavaria's Allgäu Region

9 Suites | 1 Restaurant | 1 Spa

Alpenloge welcomes little guests 8 years and up. Minimum stay 2 nights.

Nestled amidst the magnificent pre-Alpine landscape of Southern Bavaria, the Alpenloge is a new design retreat for nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet. The owners Anja and Michael run the boutique hotel with great attention to detail. The house, modeled after the original schoolhouse from the 1930s, is a place for the Good Life. A wooden shingle house with green shutters, typical of the region. Inside, natural materials meet mid-century designer furniture. Built as a passive house, the Alpenloge has considered ecological sustainability since the beginning of construction. A pellet stove with wood from the Bregenz forest provides warmth in the house. Old furniture was restored from the old schoolhouse and scrap wood was reused.

In total, there are 9 comfortable rooms and suites between 30 and 60 square meters. Each follows an individual color concept. The suites are equipped with king-size beds by Schramm, floral wallpapers, and biological bathroom amenities. A highlight in each room is the view of the beautiful nature.

On the first floor, the lounge invites you to linger.  It is a stylish living room with velvet-covered green armchairs, a white tiled stove, and a small library. Gourmets can enjoy refined dishes made from regional, organic ingredients in the in-house restaurant. Chef Mark Beastall creates new menus daily. Fine dining only for house guests.

The wellness area impresses with a large panoramic sauna, brine steam bath, massage room, and cozy relaxation area with a fireplace and oversized windows, through which a dreamlike view of the surrounding mountain landscape is offered.

In winter, the cross-country ski trails and slopes are not far, so you can easily go snowshoeing, tobogganing, and skiing. In summer, the versatile nature invites you to go hiking. Enjoy nature and tranquility, ponder with your hosts about the good life, and in the evening enjoy fine cuisine with local flavors.

We stayed in the Alpine Lodge for four days and felt extremely comfortable all around. From the quiet and very tastefully furnished rooms (the beds are a dream!) and common areas with great views of the landscape, to the relaxing steam sauna (especially recommended after mountain hikes) to the fantastic food including breakfast and the

This is a very special place to stay and I only wish we had booked for longer, 3 nights definitely wasn't enough. The owners have created an extremely stylish and welcoming place to stay. We had a fabulous room (No. 8) that was spacious and chic, with stunning views over the valley. The hotel has

We traveled from NYC and spent 3 nights of our honeymoon at the Alpenloge in January. We arrived in a snowstorm and Michael and his team had a gorgeous dinner waiting for us and were so helpful getting us into our room, they had arranged for a taxi for us from the train station, etc.

The hotel is located in Scheffau in the Allgäu, near the border with Austria and the Bregenz Forest. Lake Constance is only 20 minutes away by car. The mountains are within easy reach. Hiking starts directly at the hotel and skiing can be done on the Hochgrat, which is the highest mountain in the western Allgäu at 1,834 meters.
