Stamna Sifnos: A Five-Star Boutique Hotel on a Lesser-Known Cycladic Island

20 Rooms & Suites | 1 Restaurant | 1 Pool | Organic Farm

On the lesser-known island of Sifnos, in the heart of the Cyclades, Stamna Sifnos is one of only two five-star properties. Set amid rocky landscapes with open views across the Aegean Sea, this boutique hotel in Sifnos offers a calm alternative to the busier Greek islands. Just 20 individually designed rooms and suites are positioned to face the blue horizon, each with private outdoor seating and space to unwind.

The 20 accommodations vary in size and layout, from Petit Double Rooms with Terrace and Honeymoon Nests to Sea View Suites, Cave Suites, Maisonettes, a Suite with Private Pool and spacious Friends & Family Suites. All open onto terraces or balconies oriented toward the sea. The design is contemporary and restrained, allowing natural light, stone textures and the surrounding landscape to take precedence. The result is a five-star hotel in the Cyclades that prioritizes privacy, comfort and a strong sense of place.

Extensive gardens with olive trees and aromatic herbs frame the property, while a central pool looks out toward the Aegean. The setting reflects the island’s character: rugged terrain, pebble beaches and panoramic cliff views. Sifnos is known for its hiking trails and slower rhythm of life, offering opportunities to explore both coastline and inland paths.

Pilos, Stamna’s main restaurant, is open to both hotel guests and visitors. Guided by Chef Consultant Gkikas Xenakis, the kitchen follows a Mediterranean philosophy rooted in Cycladic traditions and quality ingredients. Hand-picked vegetables, aromatic herbs, fresh seafood and premium meats shape a vegetable-forward menu, complemented by select vegan options. Many ingredients are sourced from small producers on Sifnos and across the Cyclades, with seasonality defining each dish. A curated wine list highlights Greek and Cycladic vineyards.

An integral part of the concept is “Kipos,” Stamna’s organic farm, supplying vegetables, herbs and fruits for the kitchen. Breakfast features organic ingredients and traditional Greek specialties, while snacks, light bites, mixology and in-room dining are available throughout the day.

Wellbeing at Stamna is integrated into daily life. A dedicated yoga deck hosts guided sessions focused on mindful movement and breathwork. Pilates classes emphasize posture, strength and alignment. Massage treatments are available by appointment. Beyond the property, guests can arrange activities such as wine and cheese tastings, gastronomy lessons, pottery workshops, hiking, biking, rock climbing, scuba diving, boat charters and private island tours.

Sustainability is embedded in the hotel’s operations. Energy-saving initiatives and waste management practices aim to reduce environmental impact, while local sourcing supports the island’s economy and minimizes food miles. Fair employment practices and collaboration with regional producers reflect a broader commitment to community engagement. For travelers seeking a sustainable luxury hotel in Greece that balances five-star comfort with environmental responsibility, Stamna Sifnos offers a thoughtful approach.

In the morning, enjoy breakfast overlooking the Aegean before setting out to explore nearby villages or coastal trails. Spend the afternoon by the pool or on a pebble beach, and return at sunset for dinner at Pilos, where Cycladic wines and seasonal dishes bring the flavors of Sifnos to the table.

Sifnos was our first Greek Island we stayed on and I don't think we could have chosen a better place to relax and explore for 4 days! The first thing you'll notice about this place is obviously the view of both the sea, mountains, and surrounding villages. The first thing you'll notice about this place is obviously the view of both the sea, mountains, and surrounding villages. The next is how attentive and kind the staff are! They're here to help you find your way around the island or just the hotel itself. I particularly appreciated the central location in the island. We were a 10 minute drive from Kamares and all of the other villages/beaches that we visited. If you stay here, I recommend renting a car - it's a great way to get out and see the island. The rooms themselves are also very comfortable, spacious, and have great views as well. Lastly, the food at the hotel is excellent. The breakfast is very refreshing and they have a great variety of options. I recommend having dinner there at least once! Highly recommend stamna, we hope to come back in the future! [...]

Their genuine kindness, attention to detail, and passion for hospitality Our 9-night stay at Stamna was simply exceptional and one of the most memorable travel experiences we have ever had. From the very first moment, we felt like valued guests rather than visitors. The owners, twin brothers Costas and Nikos, have created something truly special. Their genuine kindness, attention to detail, and passion for hospitality can be felt in every corner of the property. They were always present, welcoming, and dedicated to making every guest feel at home. The entire team deserves special recognition as well. Every staff member other Costas was incredibly warm, professional, and attentive, always greeting us with a smile and going above and beyond to ensure we had a perfect stay. The breakfasts were outstanding—fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared, featuring wonderful local products and flavors. Every morning felt like a celebration of Sifnos. The restaurant Plos was equally impressive, serving exceptional dishes that were among the best meals we enjoyed on the island. Stamna is much more than a hotel; it is a place filled with soul, authenticity, and effortless elegance. The peaceful atmosphere, impeccable service, outstanding cuisine, and heartfelt hospitality made it very difficult to leave. After nine wonderful days, we felt less like guests and more like friends. Thank you, Costas, Nikos, and the entire Stamna family for creating such an unforgettable experience. We are already dreaming of our return to beautiful Sifnos. Without hesitation, 5 stars and our highest recommendation. [...]
